Oceano de livros

Como no mar, nos livros eu mergulho. me perco e me encontro, sinto-me em paz e acima de tudo sou mais autenticamente eu própria. In ocean or book, I dive in, I lose myself and find myself, but above all, it's when I more my real me.

Shadowfell by Juliet Marillier

Inês Norton

Sinopsis:

In the land of Alban, where tyrannical ruling de Keldec reduced the world to ashes and terror, hope has a name only the brave dare to whisper: Shadowfell. The legend says there is the sanctuary of a rebel force that will fight to free the people from shadow and oppression.

And it’s there that Neryn is heading, a young girl of 16 years old, who holds a dangerous Illuminated Gift: the power of communicating with the Good Folks and creatures from the deep Other World. Will Neryn be forced to do this dangerous trip alone? Or should she trust in the help of a mysterious stranger whose true agenda is unclear?

Chased by an Empire set to crush her and unaware whom to trust, Neryn will find out that her journey is also a test and she may hold in her hands the key to rescue the kingdom of Alban.

My Review:

I choose this book for the 1st category of #bookbingoleiturasaosol2019, where the title had to have the letters for the word S-O-L (sun in Portuguese), and being Juliet Marillier my favorite Writer it was long overdue a rereading for I remembered nothing since my 1st read in 2012.

The story follows the young Neryn fleeing for her life trusting no-one and making due.

In this fight she will discover herself as a beam of hope for the future dreamed of her land, in between she’ll forge unlikely friendships in a landmarked by mistrust and suspicion, discovering that even the most destitute being is always able to give something of himself with love and humbleness, whether is a song, a kind word, or a goodwill gesture. And this was one of my favorite things in this book.

I don’t want to give away any spoiler but I recommend this book and gave it fat ones even if I don’t count this trilogy as one of my favorites, but there hasn’t been any book of Juliet’s that I simply don’t like.

To finish let’s talk about the cover. Planet Editora is doing a wonderful job with the Portuguese editions, with so much care and attention to the covers and this is no exception. Neryn stands alone near a lake or a creek surrounded by the forest green, facing forward where the light shines in front of her. I just love the green shade the cape blue and the air of tranquility in a world we already know it’s in chaos.
